No one wants to immediately start cleaning once they return from an RV adventure. Unfortunately, it’s something that has to get done. It’s important to clean your RV to prevent mold and mildew and odor build-up, as well as keeping pests at bay. Also, a clean RV is easy to load up and travel in again! Here are a few tips to help expedite the process.

Remove Trash & Food

Empty every trash receptacle in the RV into trash bags and dispose of it in your curbside garbage can. Transfer recyclable items to your recycling bin. Take out all perishable foods and either put them in your house fridge or dispose of them if they’re out-of-date.

Start Laundry

Strip the sheets from all the beds and toss them into the laundry, along with all the kitchen and bath towels you used. Any small floor rugs should also be washed; larger rugs can be shaken out or vacuumed. If it’s been a while since you washed your curtains, then get those clean, too!

Wipe Down Surfaces

Go through the entire RV and wipe down all surfaces, including the fronts of cabinets and every appliance. HIgh-touch surfaces such as light switches and doorknobs can be sanitized with a bleach wipe, but a spray cleaner and a towel will work for most everything else (check to make sure the products you’re using work on the surfaces you’re cleaning).

Sweep & Mop Floors

Grab your broom & dustpan and sweep all the hard floors of your RV. If you have any carpet, bring in a vacuum to clean that. Then, mop your hard floors and allow them to air-dry before you lock up your RV until the next trip.
