Making Friends on the Road
Making Friends on the Road
As you travel in your Coachmen Apex, you encounter a variety of people. There are your neighbors at all the campsites. There are fellow participants in the tours and excursions you embark on. All these people are potential friends in the works! Making friends as you travel is a great way to make the road less lonely, swap travel tips, and have fun. We created a guide to making friends as you travel below. For all your Coachmen needs, visit Herold Trailer Sales. We proudly serve those in Des Moines, Iowa.
How to Meet People
Before you can gain a friend, you need to meet them! With a little strategy, you can set yourself up well for meeting people. A great place to start is simply spending time outside your Coachmen Apex so that people passing by can spark conversation with you. After all, if you wanted to be left alone you would be inside your RV or elsewhere on the campsite. Some people even set out signs inviting others to stop by or join them for a meal.
Another approach is to become a member of an RV-themed group. This connects you to fellow Coachmen owners so you can share travel strategies, discover new campsites, or even gain a travel buddy. Join an RV-specific group like Escapees. Or join a sub-group of social sites like Meetup.
Guided tours are also a good way to connect with others. Find a tour around an interest of yours, such as history, caves, pubs, and so on. Those on the tour will also share your interest, which gives you an instant talking point. Chat up others as you travel from site to site.
You can also check the campsite itself. Wherever you take your Coachmen RV, you can see if they host social events. Many sites do! There may be a bonfire, potluck, or trivia night where you can attend and meet new people.
Build the Momentum
Once you meet someone engaging, the next step is to keep up the momentum. How do you turn a stranger into a friend? Spend more time together! End your first conversation with an invitation to do something. Invite them over to your Coachmen Apex for a meal. Share your travel itinerary and see if anything peaks their interest. Try to set up a future hangout for you to keep building that relationship.
Staying in Touch
Hopefully, you can spend plenty of time with this individual (or individuals) during your trip. But eventually the time will come for you to part ways. Make sure you swap contact information before you do! You’ll want a way to stay in touch so you can maintain the friendship. Give them your business card (especially if it has a picture of your face on it). Add them on your social media accounts. Swap emails. Find a way to stay in contact. You never know where your paths will take you in the future. You may be able to coordinate traveling together again someday!
